STANDARD TRANSFER:-
If you bought your horse from the person who is recorded inside the passport as the owner (this must have been signed and stamped by the registrar) We will need a Standard Transfer Form completing with details of both the seller and you as the buyer and importantly, it MUST be signed by both of you passing ownership on. We cannot perform a transfer without both signatures on the form.
BREAK IN OWNERSHIP:-
If you bought your horse from someone other than the recorded owner (ie, there has been a break or several breaks in ownership) then you need to complete an Exceptional Transfer Form and in the space provided you must:
* let us know exactly who you bought your horse from, ie the name, address, phone number if you have it.
* The Date of purchase.
* We will require a copy of any purchase receipt or bill of sale etc to prove you bought the horse in good faith.
If you cannot provide purchasing proof then you will be required to make a
STATORY DECLARATION by taking our 'Statutory Declaration' form and the equine passport to a Solicitor/Commissioner of Oaths. The cost for this is usually around £10.00
The appropriate form, fee (current on the forms) and the PASSPORT MUST BE SENT in all cases to the Registrar (address on forms) to update and return to you. If you make sure that you have followed correct procedures then the process will only take a few days to finalise
This depends on the passport/registration your horse has and whether the Society has a record of Service of the dam to the sire.
If you hold an APHCUK or a recognised Breed Passport and if we have a stallion return on file then over stamping should be straight forward.
All animals will be judged on their individual circumstances and therefore it is probably better for you to contact our Registrar to discuss before applying.
The important information to note is that to avoid us asking for DNA to prove parentage in the case of animals that would be main registered, we must have a stallion Return on file for the covering
The law says that if an animal has both parents recorded in a main Breed register, then it cannot be refused registration. But if the appaloosa Sire is not licenced then any offspring from a main registered dam will be registered into the EU Register
NO, the Society does not Licence part bred Entires. With the exception of colt foals, no part bred colt can be shown at Breed shows or shows affiliated to the British Appaloosa Society.
Mares and geldings are not affected by these showing rules and may show in their appropriate classes as above
The EU Register forms part of the main register , to record animals that have not met the normal registration criteria. Animals in the EU Register cannot be shown and are not recognised as breeding stock.
If circumstances change then an application may be made to extract the EU animal into our normal Grade registers. All such cases are considered on their own merit and may be required to provide DNA proof of parentage before being allowed to move. Decision is at the discretion of the current Council
At the 2022 AGM this new register was introduced to allow the registration of animals who meet the part bred criteria on pedigree but display a grey, tobiano or pintaloosa coat pattern or have tested as a genetic carrier of tobiano, or are of draft type build. SPB animals cannot be shown at Breed or Affilaited shows unless there are specific classes provided for them
Only if the foal meets the criteria for registration of part breds, which is, it must have one grandparent registered in our main studbook. Registration would be into the Supplementary section of the part-bred register.
If the other parent is a registered appaloosa with a sire or dam in our main register then it is now possible to register offspring. Subject to a negative test for coloured genes it would register into our normal Appendix Part Bred Register. If it displays a coloured or pintaloosa coat pattern or tests postive for the genes then it would be registered into our new Supplementary Part Bred section
